Welcome to NewfieldWhen my husband and I first read about Knight Kiplinger's plans for what was then called Pineland Prairie, we looked at each other and said, "YES!"
Finally, someone had a vision for a master-planned community that wasn't just another collection of houses. This was a thoughtfully designed town rooted in timeless architecture, inspired by Old Florida, and reflective of Palm City's agricultural heritage and slower pace of life.
It reminded us of so many places we've loved visiting over the years—Abacoa's walkability, the charm of 30A's Seaside, Celebration's intentional design, the energy of downtown Alpharetta, and the character of the historic towns sprinkled throughout the East Coast and Northeast. Yet somehow...it still felt uniquely Palm City.
I was so excited about the vision that I may have beaten the developers to the punch by grabbing several Newfieldwebsite URLs before they ever thought to. (Sorry, Newfield team...hopefully you can appreciate the enthusiasm.)
When the community officially launched, I was fortunate to be among the first Realtors invited to preview Newfield before it opened to the public. Since then, I've helped buyers navigate the introduction process at the sales center and find their place in this exciting new community. Watching Newfield begin to take shape has been incredibly rewarding, and I truly believe we're only seeing the beginning of something special.
Our family moved to Palm City in 2013 from Palm Beach Gardens after finding what we considered our forever home—a house with a big backyard on a quiet cul-de-sac where we could raise our five children.
We were drawn by lower taxes, excellent schools, good people, and, most importantly, an incredible sense of community.
Soon my sister's family moved here. Then my parents. Then Matt's parents. Then his sister's family.
We found a treasure.
That's why it doesn't surprise me that so many others are discovering Palm City today.
We absolutely love our home and the little piece of land we've been blessed with, but I'll admit something...once Newfield's neighborhoods begin maturing and the town center comes to life, I wouldn't be surprised if we someday wanted our own little piece of paradise on the west side of the Turnpike.
One of the things that impressed me most during the planning stages wasn't simply the vision—it was how the vision was created.
Were there people who opposed it? Of course. This is Martin County, after all, and we have a remarkable ability to debate almost any new project, regardless of its merits.
But Knight and his planning team took a very different approach. They spent years listening, holding community meetings, gathering feedback, answering difficult questions, and refining the plan.
The result was something that felt unusually balanced.
Roughly 70% of Newfield's acreage has been set aside as open space, including conservation areas, forests, wetlands, trails, parks, pastures, and a working farm. That commitment to preserving the character of the land helped many residents feel their concerns had genuinely been heard.
More importantly, it reflected the vision of a family with deep Martin County roots and an obvious love for this land—a vision focused not just on building homes, but on leaving a legacy.
Today, Newfield is becoming exactly what so many hoped it could be: scenic trails, preserved natural beauty, working farmland, parks, gathering spaces, and beautifully designed homes woven together into a community built for generations to come.
If you're considering Newfield, I'd love to share what I've learned from following this project since its earliest days and help you decide whether this remarkable community is the right fit for your family.
